Steve is the Research Lab director at Two Sigma, which uses technology and massive datasets to reinvent investment management. Previously, Steve founded, built, and served as Lab Director at Quanta Research Cambridge Inc. (2010 to 2013), where the team focused on Cloud Computing and technology transfer from MIT. Prior to this, Steve worked at Sun Microsystems Laboratories (1994 to 2010), where he was senior research director and was also responsible for Sun’s external research office. He directed research groups focusing on big data, computer architecture and performance modeling, programming languages, JVMs, scalable synchronization, and several optimization projects. Before Sun, Steve worked at Thinking Machines Corporation, where he researched and developed interprocessor communication algorithms for the CM-2 and CM-5 multiprocessors. Steve holds BS, MS, & PhD degrees in EECS from MIT.
